Laundry Attendant

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laundry Attendant to join our esteemed team at The Ritz-Carlton, Ummahat Islands 2-3, Red Sea, Saudi Arabia. In this full-time, non-management role, you will play a vital part in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and operational excellence within our luxury hospitality environment. Your responsibilities will encompass operating and monitoring advanced laundry machinery, ensuring pristine condition of all linens and textiles, and upholding the Gold Standards that define The Ritz-Carlton’s reputation for unparalleled service.

Key Responsibilities

As a Laundry Attendant, your core duties will include:

• Laundry Operations: Operate and monitor washing, dry cleaning, and drying machinery, including the addition of appropriate chemicals and routine cleaning of lint traps and filters. Assess stained or damaged items to determine the most effective course of action, whether it be repair, spot treatment, rewash, or disposal.
• Quality Inspection: Thoroughly inspect articles removed from washers, dryers, or dry-cleaning machines to ensure they meet the highest cleanliness standards. Place cleaned items into designated linen carts for distribution.
• Equipment Management: Set dryers to specified times and temperatures based on fabric types, and remove lint and debris from dryer screens, dry cleaning filters, and drain traps after each load to maintain optimal performance.
• Folding and Preparation: Fold cleaned articles into designated sizes, either manually or using automated folding machines, ensuring they are ready for use or storage.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all items processed, including tracking of repairs, discards, and inventory levels.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere strictly to all company safety and security policies and procedures. Report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management immediately. Complete all required safety training and certifications to ensure a secure working environment.
• Team Collaboration: Foster positive working relationships with colleagues to support team goals and contribute to a cohesive, high-performing environment. Listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of fellow employees, ensuring open and effective communication.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Recommend and implement innovative solutions to drive continuous improvement in laundry operations.

Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks throughout an extended work shift. You must be capable of:

• Standing, sitting, or walking for prolonged periods, including entire shifts.
• Moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Navigating narrow, confined, or elevated spaces, as well as sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces.
• Climbing stairs and service ramps, and performing overhead, below-knee, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping motions.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: No high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
• Experience: Prior related work experience is not mandatory, as full training will be provided.
• Supervisory Experience: No prior supervisory experience is necessary.
• Licenses or Certifications: None required.
