Position Overview

Batterjee Medical College is seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Biomedical Technician to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, calibration, repair, and safe operation of medical, laboratory, and simulation equipment across our campus. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of essential equipment, thereby minimizing downtime and supporting our academic, research, and clinical endeavors. Key Responsibilities

As a Biomedical Technician, your primary duties will encompass a wide range of technical and operational responsibilities, including:

• Equipment Maintenance & Technical Support:
  • Conduct routine preventive and corrective maintenance on biomedical, medical, and laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functionality and longevity.
  • Diagnose technical faults and execute timely repairs on medical devices, laboratory instruments, and simulation equipment.
  • Provide rapid response to equipment breakdowns to minimize operational disruptions and maintain productivity.
  • Ensure all equipment adheres to manufacturer specifications and regulatory standards for safe and effective operation.
• Installation & Commissioning:
  • Assist in the installation, setup, and commissioning of new biomedical and laboratory equipment across the campus.
  • Perform comprehensive functionality and safety checks to validate equipment readiness before operational handover.
  • Configure equipment settings and ensure seamless integration with existing systems for immediate usability.
• Calibration & Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct basic calibration and functional testing of equipment to maintain accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives and participate in equipment validation processes to uphold institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with external calibration service providers to ensure timely and compliant calibration of specialized equipment.
• Asset & Inventory Management:
  • Maintain meticulous records of equipment inventory, service histories, and asset tracking systems to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Monitor spare parts availability and manage technical tools and testing instruments to support efficient maintenance operations.
  • Ensure proper identification, tagging, and labeling of all biomedical equipment for easy tracking and compliance.
• Documentation & Compliance:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance, repair, calibration, and testing activities in accordance with institutional policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Support internal audits and regulatory inspections by providing comprehensive documentation and evidence of compliance.
  • Adhere to institutional policies, manufacturer guidelines, and safety standards to ensure a secure and compliant work environment.
• User Training & Academic Support:
  • Provide essential operational guidance and technical support to faculty, staff, and laboratory users to enhance equipment usability and safety.
  • Support laboratory sessions, practical classes, and examinations by ensuring all equipment is operational and ready for use.
  • Collaborate with academic departments to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimize disruptions to teaching and research activities.
• Vendor Coordination:
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the college and equipment suppliers, as well as external service providers.
  • Supervise vendor maintenance activities to ensure adherence to service agreements and quality standards.
  • Verify service quality and outcomes to maintain the integrity of equipment performance and reliability.

Requirements & Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must meet the following educational and professional criteria:

• Hold a Diploma degree in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related technical field from an accredited institution.
• Possess a minimum of 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in biomedical equipment maintenance, preferably within an academic or healthcare setting.
