Position Overview

The MCC Controller serves as a pivotal figure in maintaining the operational integrity and efficiency of an airline’s fleet. This role is instrumental in overseeing the technical health of aircraft, coordinating maintenance activities, and ensuring timely resolution of technical issues to uphold flight safety and punctuality. By acting as a liaison between maintenance teams, operational departments, and external stakeholders, the MCC Controller plays a key role in minimizing aircraft delays and optimizing fleet performance. This position demands a high level of technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and strong communication skills to effectively manage complex maintenance operations and support the airline’s operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The MCC Controller is tasked with a diverse range of responsibilities, including:

• Technical Monitoring and Defect Management: Continuously monitor the Aircraft Health Monitoring System (Skywise) to identify existing and repetitive defects. Raise Maintenance Action Requests (MARs) for troubleshooting and rectification, ensuring defects are addressed promptly and in accordance with established procedures.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with MCC Controllers, Line Planning, Line Maintenance, and Contracted Maintenance Organizations to plan and execute defect troubleshooting and rectification. Work closely with the AOG Desk and Material Planning to ensure the availability of necessary materials for defect resolution.
• Technical Support and Escalation: Engage with Engineering and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to obtain technical instructions when standard procedures are insufficient for resolving complex defects. Provide feedback to Engineering teams regarding recurrent or repetitive defects and system failures to drive continuous improvement.
• Regulatory Compliance and Documentation: Review and manage Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Configuration Deviation List (CDL), and Time-Limited Defects on a daily basis. Assess Deferred Defects and Non-Essential Functions (NEFs) every alternate day to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and operational requirements.
• Reporting and Analysis: Assist in preparing Daily Aircraft Status Reports and participate in daily meetings to provide updates on aircraft status to stakeholders. Contribute to the analysis of aircraft delays and compile Delay Reports. Maintain accurate records of delays and prepare Monthly Technical Dispatch Reliability Reports for management review.
• Process Optimization and Communication: Identify gaps in existing processes and propose innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency. Maintain aircraft within agreed levels of deferred defects (MELs and NEFs) and prepare, review, and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports based on operational data. Ensure constant and precise communication with the Integrated Operations Control Center (IOCC) to align on operational status and its potential impacts.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Updates: Provide timely status updates on delays and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations to stakeholders and management. Evaluate current processes and recommend enhancements to optimize departmental operations and overall fleet performance.

Qualifications and Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

• Licensing and Training: Hold a valid license with a type rating on the Airbus A320 family, including CFM56 or LEAP-1A engines. Completion of Airbus A320/CFM56+LEAP-1A training at an advanced level is required.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of seven years of experience in aircraft certification, with at least five years specifically on the Airbus A320 fleet. A minimum of three years of direct experience in Maintenance Control Center (MCC) operations is essential.
• Technical Knowledge: Possess extensive knowledge of Airbus A320 aircraft systems, including an advanced understanding of General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) regulations. Proficiency in AirNavX, Airman, and the Microsoft Office suite of applications is required.
