Level Designer: Action & Adventure Titles

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Level Designer to join our dynamic team in Riyadh, specializing in the development of action and adventure titles. In this role, you will collaborate closely with artists, programmers, and designers to craft immersive, engaging, and visually stunning game environments that captivate players and enhance gameplay experiences. Your expertise in level design principles, technical proficiency with Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), and passion for storytelling will be instrumental in shaping the next generation of interactive entertainment.

Key Responsibilities

• Level Design & Construction: Design, build, and iterate on 3D environments, ensuring they align with the game’s narrative, mechanics, and artistic vision. Utilize UE5’s advanced tools, including Nanite, Lumen, and World Partition, to create high-fidelity, scalable levels that meet performance and quality standards.
• Gameplay Integration: Collaborate with gameplay designers to integrate mechanics, puzzles, and interactive elements seamlessly into levels. Ensure that player progression, challenges, and rewards are balanced and intuitive, fostering an engaging and rewarding experience.
• Technical Proficiency: Leverage Unreal Engine 5’s blueprint system, scripting, and modular asset workflows to prototype and refine level designs efficiently. Optimize performance by managing draw calls, occlusion culling, and level streaming to maintain smooth gameplay across various hardware configurations.
• Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including artists, programmers, writers, and producers, to iterate on designs and resolve technical or creative challenges. Participate in design reviews, sprint planning, and feedback sessions to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
• Quality Assurance & Testing: Conduct thorough testing of levels to identify and address bugs, balance issues, or design flaws. Gather player feedback and analytics to refine and enhance level layouts, pacing, and overall player experience.
• Documentation & Best Practices: Maintain clear and organized documentation of level designs, including blockouts, final assets, and technical specifications. Stay updated on industry trends, UE5 updates, and emerging tools to continuously improve workflows and design methodologies.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in level design, preferably within the action and adventure genre. A strong portfolio showcasing completed projects, including shipped titles or significant contributions to game development, is required.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) with hands-on experience in level design, blueprint scripting, and environment creation. Familiarity with 3D modeling tools (e.g., Maya, Blender) and version control systems (e.g., Perforce, Git) is highly desirable.
• Creative & Analytical Thinking: Ability to balance artistic vision with technical constraints, ensuring levels are both visually compelling and functionally robust. Strong problem-solving skills to address design challenges and optimize player experiences.
• Collaboration & Adaptability: Excellent teamwork and communication skills to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Adaptability to evolving project requirements, feedback, and industry trends.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Relevant certifications in Unreal Engine or game development are a plus.
