About the Role

We are partnering with a dynamic, international technology organization to identify a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer (Python/Django) based in Saudi Arabia. Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development & Architecture: Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework (DRF), ensuring alignment with high-concurrency and peak usage demands.
• API Engineering: Build and optimize robust, secure, and maintainable APIs that integrate seamlessly with third-party systems and services, supporting seamless global connectivity.
• Performance & Scalability: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, inefficient database queries, N+1 problems, and asynchronous processing inefficiencies to enhance system reliability and responsiveness.
• Quality Assurance & Testing: Establish and uphold rigorous quality standards through comprehensive unit testing with Pytest, automated quality checks, and adherence to modern development practices.
• Technical Leadership: Act as a technical reference for backend engineering, providing strategic input while remaining deeply involved in implementation. Lead code reviews, technical documentation, and the adoption of best practices across the development lifecycle.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with Product, QA, and cross-functional teams across international offices to translate complex business requirements into resilient, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive automation initiatives, optimize development and operational processes, and contribute to the reduction of technical debt to ensure long-term system health and agility.

Requirements

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on backend development experience, with a strong focus on Python and Django/Django REST Framework in production environments.
• Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Python, microservices architecture, and the integration of complex third-party systems or ecosystems. Experience with asynchronous programming and high-load database optimization is essential.
• Quality & Testing: Demonstrated expertise in unit testing frameworks such as Pytest, with a commitment to quality-first development practices, including code reviews and automated quality checks.
• Performance Optimization: Proven ability to diagnose performance issues, improve application efficiency, scalability, and reliability through profiling, optimization, and architectural refinements.
• Software Engineering Principles: Deep understanding of API design, software architecture patterns, design principles, and maintainable coding practices to ensure long-term system viability.
• Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills (C1 level or equivalent) to effectively engage with a distributed, international team. Strong interpersonal skills to articulate technical concepts clearly and contribute constructively to team discussions.
• Strategic & Hands-On Mindset: Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on implementation, taking ownership of technical challenges and driving solutions with autonomy and accountability.
• Additional Consideration: Fluency in Spanish is a plus, though not mandatory for this role.
