Derrickman

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Derrickman to join our dynamic drilling and workover operations team. In this critical role, you will serve as a key member of the rig crew, responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe handling of drill pipe and other equipment on the derrick. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of four years of hands-on experience in drilling and workover operations, with a proven track record in roles such as Roustabout and Roughneck, or a similar progression of assignments. This position demands a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and teamwork in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Management: Oversee the proper handling, inspection, and maintenance of drill pipe, casing, and other tubulars to ensure operational integrity and prevent downtime.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure compliance with company and industry safety standards, particularly in handling hazardous materials such as Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S).
• Crew Coordination: Work closely with the Driller and other crew members to execute drilling and workover operations efficiently, ensuring clear communication and adherence to operational procedures.
• Height and Physical Demands: Perform duties at significant heights on the derrick, requiring physical stamina, agility, and the ability to work in confined spaces for extended periods.
• Problem-Solving: Demonstrate sound judgment and quick decision-making in high-pressure situations to mitigate risks and maintain operational continuity.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: A minimum of four years of relevant experience in drilling and workover operations, with prior roles as a Roustabout or Roughneck, or equivalent field experience.
• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent qualification is preferred, though equivalent experience may be considered.
• Certifications: Must possess current H₂S (Hydrogen Sulfide) certification, demonstrating knowledge of safety procedures for handling hazardous gases.
• Language Proficiency: Working knowledge of English is essential, with the ability to understand complex safety instructions, well control procedures, and communicate effectively with the Driller and crew.
• Physical & Mental Fitness: Must be physically capable of performing demanding tasks, including working at extreme heights, lifting heavy objects, and maintaining focus in high-pressure environments. Sound mental judgment and resilience are critical for ensuring safety and operational efficiency.

Work Environment

The Derrickman role involves working in challenging outdoor conditions, including exposure to extreme weather, noise, and potential hazards associated with drilling operations. The position requires flexibility to work in rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by operational demands. Candidates must be prepared to travel to various job sites and adapt to changing environments while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
