Chief Accountant – Medina, Saudi Arabia

Key Responsibilities

The Chief Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of financial and accounting functions, including:

• Financial Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with international accounting standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, and present actionable insights to senior management.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to develop accurate financial forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgets and provide variance analysis to support informed decision-making.
• Internal Controls & Compliance: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting policies, tax regulations, and corporate governance standards. Implement best practices to mitigate financial risks and enhance operational efficiency.
• Tax Management: Coordinate with external advisors to ensure timely and accurate tax filings, including VAT, income tax, and other statutory obligations. Develop tax strategies to optimize the company’s financial position while remaining fully compliant with local laws.
• Team Development & Mentorship: Foster a high-performance culture within the accounting team by providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities. Delegate responsibilities effectively to ensure seamless operations and succession planning.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership, including the General Manager and regional finance teams. Present financial updates, recommendations, and strategic initiatives to support business objectives and drive profitability.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MAcc) or professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CMA) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role such as Finance Manager, Accounting Manager, or Chief Accountant. Experience in the hospitality industry is a strong advantage.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), financial software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with IFRS and local accounting regulations is essential.
• Analytical & Communication Skills: Exceptional analytical abilities to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights clearly to non-financial stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic are required.
• Leadership & Strategic Thinking: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive process improvements, and align financial strategies with organizational goals. A results-driven mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and innovation.
