Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Surveyor to join our mining operations team. Reporting directly to the Mine Manager, this critical role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of all surveying activities essential to our mining processes. The Senior Surveyor will play a pivotal role in maintaining survey equipment, collecting precise data, and supporting the development of mining plans through detailed survey drawings and digital analysis. Key Responsibilities

The Senior Surveyor will be entrusted with the following core responsibilities to drive operational excellence and support strategic mining initiatives:

• Survey Execution and Data Collection:
  • Operate advanced surveying equipment, including theodolites, laser levels, and other precision instruments, to establish sight points, determine elevations, and measure distances critical to mining operations.
  • Collect, record, and validate survey data with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy for further processing and analysis.
  • Perform necessary calculations and submit results to the supervisor in a timely manner to facilitate informed decision-making.
• Survey Data and Digital Mapping:
  • Prepare detailed hand drawings of surveyed areas, accurately depicting elevations, distances, and transitions to support operational planning.
  • Input survey data into SURPAC, a leading mining software, to generate comprehensive plans and actionable information for future mining activities.
  • Ensure all survey data is properly documented, stored, and accessible to relevant stakeholders for seamless integration into mining projects.
• Equipment Maintenance and Safety Compliance:
  • Maintain survey equipment in optimal working condition by performing regular inspections, calibrations, and repairs as needed.
  • Ensure proper setup and calibration of equipment before deployment in the field to guarantee accurate measurements.
  • Replenish survey materials and supplies to avoid operational disruptions and maintain productivity.
  • Uphold stringent safety standards by adhering to all company and regulatory safety protocols, and actively monitor the compliance of survey helpers and field teams.
  • Report work progress, potential hazards, and any deviations from procedures to the supervisor promptly and accurately.

• Survey measurements, calculations, records, and drawings are accurate, reliable, and submitted for further processing without delay.
• Survey data is accurately entered into SURPAC, enabling the development of robust mining plans and supporting future operational activities.
• Survey equipment is consistently maintained, correctly set up, and fully supplied to ensure uninterrupted field operations.
• All survey activities and those of supporting teams strictly comply with established safety procedures and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Completion of secondary education (12 years of schooling) followed by two years of formal training leading to a diploma in surveying technology.
• Experience: Minimum of five years of hands-on surveying experience within the mining industry. Candidates with six years of relevant experience in other industrial sectors will also be considered.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using surveying instruments and software, particularly experience with SURPAC or similar mining software platforms.
• Soft Skills: Strong command of the English language, a results-driven mindset, exceptional teamwork capabilities, and a steadfast commitment to ethical practices and organizational values.
