Control and Automation Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Control and Automation Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. Key Responsibilities

The Control and Automation Engineer will play a central role in maintaining and advancing our automation infrastructure. Your core responsibilities will include:

• System Maintenance and Optimization: Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on PLC, SCADA, HMI, DCS, and automation systems to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Fault Diagnosis and Corrective Action: Diagnose control-system faults with precision, implementing timely corrective measures to reduce equipment downtime and maintain operational continuity.
• Program Development and Troubleshooting: Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs, control logic, sequences, and HMI interfaces to enhance system functionality and user experience.
• Instrumentation and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and troubleshoot a wide range of instrumentation and automation components, including sensors, transmitters, actuators, control valves, relays, VFDs, and control panels.
• Technical Documentation Review: Analyze and interpret electrical and control drawings, such as control schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, I/O lists, instrumentation drawings, and cause-and-effect diagrams, to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Testing and Commissioning: Conduct rigorous testing and commissioning of automation and control systems to validate performance and ensure seamless integration into existing operations.
• System Upgrades and Projects: Lead or participate in system upgrades, modifications, and new automation projects to drive innovation and improve operational efficiency.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, mechanical, IT, and other engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, execute projects, and ensure cohesive system integration.
• Performance Monitoring and Improvement: Continuously monitor system performance to identify opportunities for automation enhancement, energy optimization, and process improvements.
• Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), breakdowns, modifications, and system parameters. Prepare comprehensive technical, maintenance, and test reports, as well as equipment documentation.
• Backup and Data Management: Ensure the integrity and availability of critical automation data by maintaining backups of PLC programs, HMI applications, configurations, and system parameters.
• Network and Integration Support: Provide support for SCADA/BMS integration and industrial communication networks, including expertise in protocols such as Modbus, Profibus/Profinet, Ethernet/IP, BACnet, and OPC.
• Emergency Response: Participate in emergency and breakdown response activities to restore operations swiftly and safely in critical situations.

Qualifications and Requirements

To excel in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related field.
• Certifications: Familiarity with industry standards such as IEC, NFPA, ISA, and other applicable regulations is required.
• Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, electrical systems, instrumentation, or maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in Arabic and professional proficiency in English are essential for effective communication and documentation.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting using platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, and Mitsubishi. Experience with SCADA, HMI, DCS, and BMS/IBMS systems is highly desirable. Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, instrumentation, VFDs, control panels, and electrical drawings is also required.
