Vibration Data Collection Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Vibration Data Collection Technician to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for gathering, recording, and analyzing vibration data from machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in predictive maintenance, fault detection, and minimizing operational downtime across various industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Acquisition: Operate specialized equipment to collect accurate vibration measurements from rotating machinery, including motors, pumps, compressors, and turbines. Ensure adherence to established protocols and safety standards during data collection.
• Equipment Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of machinery to identify potential issues such as misalignment, unbalance, or bearing defects. Document findings and report anomalies to engineering teams for further evaluation.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilize advanced software tools to interpret vibration data, generate reports, and provide actionable insights. Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop corrective action plans and prevent equipment failures.
• Preventive Maintenance Support: Assist in the implementation of predictive maintenance strategies by monitoring vibration trends over time. Recommend adjustments to maintenance schedules based on data-driven insights to enhance operational efficiency.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all data collection activities comply with industry regulations, company policies, and safety protocols. Maintain accurate records of inspections, measurements, and corrective actions for auditing purposes.
• Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports, including graphs, charts, and analysis summaries, to communicate findings to stakeholders. Maintain organized records of equipment history and maintenance activities.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or certification in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in vibration analysis, data collection, or predictive maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with vibration measurement tools (e.g., accelerometers, data collectors) and software (e.g., FFT analyzers, CMMS platforms). Knowledge of ISO standards for vibration analysis is a plus.
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations for equipment reliability improvements.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Certifications: Certification in Vibration Analysis (e.g., ISO 18436-2, Category I or II) is highly desirable.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform fieldwork in various environments, including industrial sites, power plants, or manufacturing facilities. Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, or in extreme temperatures as required.
