About the Role
Aramco is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Linear Programming (LP) Modeling Engineer to join our dynamic team in Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing advanced LP models to support critical decision-making processes across our organization. Your expertise will directly contribute to enhancing operational efficiency, resource allocation, and strategic planning, ensuring Aramco remains at the forefront of innovation in the energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Model Development and Optimization: Design, implement, and maintain sophisticated LP models to address complex business challenges, including supply chain optimization, production planning, and cost minimization. Utilize state-of-the-art optimization techniques to enhance model accuracy and performance.
- Data Analysis and Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, analyze, and preprocess large datasets required for model inputs. Ensure data integrity and consistency while integrating diverse data sources to support robust modeling efforts.
- Scenario Analysis and Sensitivity Testing: Conduct comprehensive scenario analyses and sensitivity tests to evaluate the impact of varying parameters on model outcomes. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders based on analytical findings.
- Model Validation and Documentation: Perform rigorous validation of LP models to ensure they meet business requirements and industry standards. Maintain detailed documentation of model assumptions, methodologies, and results to facilitate transparency and reproducibility.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with business units, including operations, finance, and strategy teams, to understand their needs and translate them into effective modeling solutions. Present findings and recommendations in a clear, concise manner to non-technical audiences.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging trends and advancements in LP modeling, optimization algorithms, and software tools. Propose and implement improvements to existing models and processes to drive efficiency and innovation.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. An advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in LP modeling, optimization, and mathematical programming. Prior experience in the energy sector or a similar industry is a strong plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in LP modeling tools such as GAMS, AMPL, or Python libraries (e.g., PuLP, Pyomo). Strong programming skills in Python, R, or MATLAB are essential. Experience with optimization solvers like CPLEX, Gurobi, or COIN-OR is required.
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail. Ability to interpret complex data and derive meaningful insights to support decision-making.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and present technical information in a clear, accessible manner.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in operations research, optimization, or related fields are a plus.
