Key Responsibilities

As a Ubuntu Security Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

• Vulnerability Management: Investigate, assess, and remediate security vulnerabilities across Ubuntu’s open-source packages, leveraging cutting-edge tools and methodologies to ensure rapid and effective resolution.
• Collaborative Security Development: Work closely with internal engineering teams, upstream developers, and the broader open-source community to develop, validate, and deploy security patches that address critical threats.
• Code Auditing and Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough security audits of source code and software components to identify weaknesses, prioritize remediation efforts, and mitigate risks based on impact and urgency.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

We are looking for a technically proficient and collaborative security engineer with:

• Deep Technical Expertise: A strong grasp of common software security vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and mitigation strategies, with hands-on experience in vulnerability research and responsible disclosure practices.
• Open-Source Proficiency: Familiarity with open-source development workflows, version control systems, and collaborative tools used in the Ubuntu and broader open-source communities.
