As the Restricted Commodities Compliance Lead, you will play a critical role in safeguarding DHL’s reputation while mitigating legal and financial risks associated with the transportation of sensitive or regulated goods. Key Responsibilities:

• Regulatory Oversight: Develop, implement, and continuously update compliance policies and procedures for restricted commodities, including hazardous materials, controlled substances, and dual-use items, in alignment with international treaties (e.g., ITAR, EAR, WCO), regional laws, and DHL’s internal guidelines.
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk evaluations to identify potential compliance gaps, regulatory changes, or operational vulnerabilities. Propose and execute mitigation strategies to ensure full adherence to legal and ethical standards.
• Training and Awareness: Lead cross-functional training programs for employees, agents, and third-party partners to enhance awareness of compliance requirements, best practices, and the consequences of non-compliance.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with legal, customs, and operational teams to resolve compliance-related issues, interpret complex regulations, and advocate for compliant solutions that support DHL’s business objectives.
• Audit and Reporting: Oversee internal and external audits to verify compliance with restricted commodities regulations. Prepare detailed reports for management, regulatory authorities, and auditors to demonstrate adherence to standards.
• Policy Development: Contribute to the creation of DHL’s compliance frameworks, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and adaptable to changing global trade dynamics.
• Global Coordination: Work with international compliance teams to harmonize practices across DHL’s global network, ensuring consistency in regulatory adherence and operational integrity.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Proven experience (7+ years) in compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related field, with a focus on restricted commodities, hazardous materials, or international trade regulations.
• In-depth knowledge of global trade laws, including ITAR, EAR, WCO, and regional customs regulations such as those of the GCC or EU.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to navigate complex regulatory environments and interpret ambiguous guidelines.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities to engage with diverse teams, including legal, operational, and external partners.
• Familiarity with compliance management systems (CMS) and enterprise risk management (ERM) tools is a plus.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable given the location in Jeddah.
