Your Impact

As a key member of the BCS Program, your responsibilities will include:

• Linux Systems Administration: Manage user accounts, provision workstations and servers, track inventory, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot issues to maintain operational stability.
• Network Infrastructure Leadership: Plan, implement, maintain, and monitor complex networking environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance for mission-critical systems.
• Software Development Environment: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure and software development processes, ensuring clarity and consistency across teams.
• Agile Deployment Support: Actively participate in regular software deployments to the Mission System Test and Integration Facility, aligning with agile methodologies to accelerate innovation.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with software engineers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to refine and enhance the software development lifecycle, driving efficiency and scalability.
• Automation and Testing: Contribute to environment automation using infrastructure-as-code principles and conduct ad-hoc testing within the Systems Integration Facility as required.
• Code and Process Reviews: Review pull requests and participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to ensure high-quality software delivery.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and results-driven environment by leveraging strong interpersonal skills and clear communication.

What You’ll Bring

To thrive in this position, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

• Australian Citizenship: Mandatory to meet defense security requirements. Boeing values diversity and encourages applications from all backgrounds, including those outside the defense industry.
• Proven Linux Expertise: Deep knowledge of Linux operating systems, system administration, virtualization, and networking (IPv4/IPv6, routing, NAT, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VLAN/VxLAN).

While not mandatory, the following desirable qualifications will strengthen your candidacy:

• Education or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent industry experience.
• Defense or Complex Engineering Experience: Familiarity with defense or large-scale engineering projects enhances your ability to contribute effectively.
• Commercial Networking Products: Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or Palo Alto networking solutions.
• Virtualization Technologies: Proficiency in VMware, KVM, or Libvirt for environment management.
• Programming and Automation: Knowledge of Python, Ansible, Bash, or Go for scripting and automation tasks.
• DevOps and CI/CD Tools: Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory, GitLab).
• Documentation and Agile Mindset: Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation and align with agile methodologies for iterative development.
