Senior Project Engineer – Artificial Lift
Weatherford is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead and deliver artificial lift projects in alignment with our strategic objectives. This pivotal role will be based in Saudi Arabia and will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and optimize artificial lift systems that enhance oil and gas production efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in artificial lift technologies, including but not limited to, Electric Submersible Pumps (ESP), Gas Lift, Progressive Cavity Pumps (PCP), and Hydraulic Lift systems. Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of artificial lift projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Act as the primary technical authority for artificial lift solutions within assigned projects.
- Technical Expertise: Provide specialized knowledge in artificial lift systems, including system selection, design optimization, and performance analysis. Evaluate and recommend the most suitable lift technologies based on reservoir characteristics, operational conditions, and economic viability.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including reservoir engineers, production engineers, and field operations, to integrate artificial lift solutions seamlessly into existing production systems. Engage with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and regulatory requirements.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing project outcomes, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing best practices to enhance system reliability and performance. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in artificial lift to recommend innovative solutions.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations. Prioritize safety and sustainability in all project activities.
- Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of learning and professional development. Share technical insights and lessons learned to elevate the capabilities of the broader team.
Qualifications & Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or advanced certifications in artificial lift technologies is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in artificial lift engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role. Proven track record in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting artificial lift systems in onshore and offshore environments.
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of artificial lift technologies, including ESP, Gas Lift, PCP, and Hydraulic Lift systems. Familiarity with industry software tools such as PIPESIM, PROSPER, or similar for system modeling and performance analysis.
- Certifications: Professional certifications in artificial lift systems or related disciplines are a plus.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities.
- Language & Compliance: Fluency in English is required; additional proficiency in Arabic is advantageous. Must adhere to Weatherford’s safety, quality, and ethical standards.
