Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced System Engineer (Shikra-system) to join our Maintenance & Technical Support Department (MTSD) and provide expert-level support under the maintenance contract. This role is critical to ensuring the operational readiness, performance, and reliability of the Shikra system, including radar, communication equipment, and Command & Control (C2) systems. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with both local and international teams, including experts based in France, to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues while transferring knowledge to Saudi technicians. This position demands a deep understanding of radar systems, electronic diagnostics, and maintenance procedures in a dynamic, multi-cultural environment.
Key Responsibilities
The System Engineer (Shikra-system) will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing the operational availability and performance of the Shikra system. Your responsibilities will include:
- Technical Advisory and Support: Providing expert guidance and assistance in all aspects of the Shikra system, including radar, communication equipment, and C2 systems, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Performance Monitoring and Analysis: Continuously monitoring operational availability, system performance, and support chain efficiency. Analyzing data to identify trends, potential issues, or areas for improvement, and recommending corrective actions—both independently and in coordination with the team in France.
- System Evaluation and Diagnostics: Assessing the performance of Shikra systems, data handling equipment, and communication devices. Conducting in-depth analysis of Built-In Test Equipment (BITE) results to identify faults and recommend enhancements to system diagnostics and software.
- Intermediate Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Performing field maintenance (FM) tasks as required, including diagnostic checks, specialized maintenance, and repairs on radar and C2 systems to ensure they remain fully operational. Utilizing advanced electronic repair procedures, system diagnostics, and fault isolation techniques to resolve hardware, software, and Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) issues.
- Mobile Maintenance Team (MMT) Support: Collaborating with the Mobile Maintenance Team to travel to remote sites for software maintenance, troubleshooting, and conducting On-the-Job Training (OJT) for local technicians. This role requires adaptability and the ability to work in diverse operational environments.
- Collaboration with International Experts: Engaging with Contractor Experts in Europe to escalate and resolve complex malfunctions when local solutions are insufficient. Facilitating seamless communication and coordination to ensure timely resolution of critical issues.
- Knowledge Transfer and Training: Sharing technical expertise and best practices with Saudi technicians to enhance their skills and ensure the long-term sustainability of the Shikra system. Providing advisory support to foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Competencies, Skills & Knowledge Areas
To excel in this role, candidates must possess a comprehensive understanding of radar systems and associated technologies. The ideal candidate will have:
- Radar System Expertise: Proven experience with Primary Surveillance Radar (PSR), Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR), radar plot extractors, and interface equipment, including antennas, processors, computers, monitoring systems, data transmission devices, and power systems.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong technical knowledge of radar and C2 systems, with hands-on experience in configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting these systems in complex operational environments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to thrive in a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary, and matrix organizational structure. Experience in customer interactions and working within international teams is highly desirable.
- Contractor Support Services: A solid understanding of the broader support services provided by the Contractor, including installation, testing, integration, upgrades, and modifications of radar and C2 systems.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with fluency in French considered a strong advantage. The ability to build rapport, manage relationships, and convey technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders is essential.
Qualifications & Experience
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
