Senior Risk Engineering Consultant

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Risk Engineering Consultant to join our Commercial Risk Solutions team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This role is based on-site and offers a unique opportunity to work with a global leader in risk management, insurance brokerage, and professional services. As a trusted advisor, you will play a pivotal role in helping clients identify, assess, and mitigate operational, property, and business risks while enhancing their resilience and reducing potential losses. Your expertise will directly contribute to the development of robust risk management strategies, effective insurance placement, and sustainable business continuity plans.

Core Responsibilities

The Senior Risk Engineering Consultant will be responsible for delivering comprehensive risk engineering services to a diverse portfolio of clients. Your duties will encompass the following key areas:

• Risk Assessment & Surveying:
  • Conduct thorough property risk engineering assessments across client locations to identify potential hazards and operational vulnerabilities.
  • Perform detailed site visits and risk engineering surveys, evaluating fire protection systems, maintenance practices, business continuity measures, and loss prevention controls.
  • Assess exposure to property damage, business interruption, machinery breakdown, and operational risks, including construction risk engineering surveys in alignment with insurance market requirements.
  • Develop Estimated Maximum Loss (EML) values to support insurance placement requirements and review process safety controls, integrity programs, and critical equipment risks.
• Risk Analysis & Reporting:
  • Prepare comprehensive risk control engineering reports that clearly articulate findings, recommendations, and action plans.
  • Support risk quantification activities, including the evaluation of potential loss scenarios such as EML and Maximum Foreseeable Loss (MFL).
  • Monitor the implementation of risk improvement recommendations and assess progress to ensure continuous risk reduction.
• Client Advisory:
  • Provide expert guidance to clients on risk mitigation strategies, operational resilience improvements, and compliance with insurance, regulatory, and industry requirements.
  • Offer industry benchmarking and best-practice recommendations to enhance clients’ risk management frameworks.
  • Lead client meetings, presentations, and risk workshops to foster a proactive risk-aware culture.
• Insurance & Broking Support:
  • Collaborate closely with broking teams to support insurance placement and renewal processes, ensuring alignment with client risk profiles.
  • Prepare and present detailed risk engineering submissions to insurers and underwriters, highlighting key exposures and risk improvement measures.
  • Supply insurers and underwriters with critical risk engineering information and analyses to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Contribute to achieving improved insurance terms and risk transfer outcomes while supporting business development activities, including proposals and client pitches.
• Relationship Management:
  • Act as a trusted risk advisor to key clients, delivering technically sound and commercially relevant guidance tailored to their unique needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers, surveyors, and internal stakeholders through effective communication and leadership.
  • Collaborate with regional and global Aon risk engineering teams to leverage collective expertise and best practices.
  • Promote Aon’s Risk Engineering and Risk Consulting capabilities to clients, reinforcing our position as a leader in the field.
  • Occasionally support other offices in KSA and international surveys as required.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for a dynamic and results-driven professional with a proven track record in risk engineering, risk management, or a related field. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• A degree in Engineering, Risk Management, Safety Management, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in risk engineering, loss prevention, or a similar role within the insurance, industrial, or corporate sectors.
• Strong technical expertise in conducting risk assessments, site surveys, and loss prevention evaluations, with a focus on property, operational, and business interruption risks.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex risk concepts into actionable insights for clients and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in developing risk improvement recommendations and action plans, supported by data-driven insights and industry best practices.
• Demonstrated experience in collaborating with brokers, insurers, and technical specialists to deliver integrated risk management solutions.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), or similar credentials are highly desirable.
• Fluency in English is essential; additional language skills, particularly Arabic, are advantageous.
