Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Analytics Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in developing and implementing Measurement & Verification (M&V) plans for Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) projects across diverse facilities. Your expertise will be instrumental in analyzing utility data, ensuring accurate baseline and post-installation measurements, and providing technical support to optimize energy management systems. Key Responsibilities
- M&V Plan Development & Implementation: Design and execute M&V plans for ESPC projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and protocols. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish baseline data and verify energy savings post-implementation.
- Data Analysis & Normalization: Utilize advanced analytical techniques, including linear regressions, to analyze and normalize utility data. Interpret trend data from building automation systems, field measurements, data loggers, and performance tests to assess energy consumption patterns.
- Data Collection & Verification: Oversee the collection of baseline and post-installation data, including short-term measurements and long-term trend analysis. Conduct on-site troubleshooting and data logging to validate project performance and ensure accuracy.
- Energy Management System (EMS) Support: Provide technical assistance in reviewing data from energy management systems, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and energy savings analysis. Work closely with the Asset Management Team to optimize system performance and ensure alignment with M&V plans.
- Reporting & Customer Engagement: Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual energy savings reports in compliance with IPMVP protocols. Facilitate the billing process with customers and deliver presentations to educate stakeholders on energy savings results. Document customer meetings to track agreements and required actions.
- System Optimization & Compliance: Analyze the operation of energy management control systems, including sequences and trend data, to identify opportunities for optimization and ensure compliance with M&V plans. Perform on-site validation to correct any discrepancies in project performance.
Qualifications & Skills
To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and competencies:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Certifications: Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) certification is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant work experience in the energy management or ESCO industry. Hands-on experience with HVAC systems, building controls, and energy management systems is highly desirable. Prior involvement in engineering and energy savings calculations for performance contracting, along with a strong understanding of M&V protocols and guidelines, is essential.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, Excel (including VBA), SQL, Access, Tableau, and Outlook. Experience with building energy simulation software such as eQUEST or EnergyPlus is a plus.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail. Ability to interpret complex data sets, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to drive business solutions.
- Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal abilities to maintain and nurture business relationships with clients. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare reports, deliver presentations, and educate stakeholders on energy savings results.
