DevOps Release Management

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned DevOps & Release Management Engineer to serve as the guardian of our production environment, ensuring the seamless execution of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) strategies across our comprehensive financial technology ecosystem. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for architecting and implementing robust release processes that support zero-downtime deployments for our core platforms, including Fineract and ERPNext, as well as our proprietary custom stack comprising mobile applications, Java/Spring Boot middleware, credit decision engines, and BPM workflows. Your expertise will be leveraged within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP KSA) environment, where you will drive the adoption of infrastructure-as-code (IaC), container orchestration, and stringent release governance to meet the stringent high-availability demands of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s financial sector.

Key Responsibilities

Release Planning & Governance

You will take ownership of the entire Release Management lifecycle, meticulously planning, coordinating, and executing releases across development, QA, UAT, and production environments. Your responsibilities will include defining and enforcing rigorous release gates, change management controls, and rollback procedures to uphold system stability and ensure compliance with SAMA regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will maintain comprehensive audit trails for all deployments and infrastructure changes, providing critical documentation for compliance audits and security reviews.

CI/CD Pipeline Architecture

Designing, building, and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines will be a core function of this role. You will develop pipelines capable of supporting a diverse technology stack, including monolithic packaged applications like ERPNext and modern microservices architectures. Your expertise will enable the automation of testing integration, code quality checks, and security scanning within deployment pipelines for custom-built middleware, mobile applications, and decision engines. Furthermore, you will ensure consistency across environments and mitigate configuration drift to maintain operational integrity.

Cloud Infrastructure & Container Orchestration

You will manage and scale the underlying GCP infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ensuring scalable and repeatable deployments. Your responsibilities will include administering and optimizing Kubernetes (K8s) clusters for the deployment of proprietary microservices, with a focus on efficient resource utilization, auto-scaling, and high availability. Additionally, you will oversee service meshes, API gateways, and identity/access management configurations, including Keycloak, to fortify the security architecture of our middleware systems.

Monitoring & Operations Support

Implementing advanced telemetry, logging, and monitoring solutions across the GCP environment will be essential to proactively detect post-release anomalies. You will collaborate closely with the ITSM Lead and L3 Engineering teams to troubleshoot deployment failures, address database migration challenges (e.g., PostgreSQL), and resolve complex network routing issues, ensuring minimal disruption to our financial technology services.

Requirements

Qualifications & Technical Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, and Release Management, preferably within the banking, fintech, or a highly regulated industry.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: In-depth expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD & Automation: Proficiency with enterprise-grade CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, and ArgoCD, along with configuration management best practices.
• Technical Stack Knowledge:
  • Experience deploying and managing Java (Spring Boot) and Python applications.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including automated database migration strategies during releases.
  • Familiarity with the deployment architectures of Fineract and/or ERPNext (Frappe framework) is highly advantageous.
• Scripting: Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python to automate routine operational tasks and enhance system efficiency.
• Process Acumen: A deep understanding of Agile methodologies, ITIL release management frameworks, and deployment strategies such as blue/green or canary deployments.
