Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Officer - Accounting to join our finance team. Key Responsibilities

The Senior Officer - Accounting will be responsible for a range of financial activities designed to uphold the integrity of our accounts payable function. Your core duties will include:

• Invoice Processing and Validation: Receive, review, and validate invoices from vendors and suppliers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to contractual terms. Identify discrepancies and promptly resolve them through effective communication with stakeholders.
• Payment Scheduling and Execution: Coordinate with internal teams to secure timely approvals for invoices and schedule payments in accordance with agreed-upon terms. Prepare and process payment batches to ensure vendors are paid promptly, thereby maintaining strong business relationships and avoiding late fees or penalties.
• Vendor Management: Maintain and update comprehensive vendor records, including contact details, payment terms, and historical transaction data. Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors regarding invoice inquiries, payment status updates, and resolution of discrepancies.
• Reconciliation and Compliance: Perform regular reconciliations of accounts payable transactions and vendor statements to verify accuracy and identify any irregularities. Ensure strict compliance with internal accounting policies, as well as external regulatory requirements, to mitigate financial risks and uphold organizational integrity.
• Internal Controls and Fraud Prevention: Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets, prevent fraudulent activities, and minimize errors in financial reporting. Collaborate with the internal audit team to provide necessary documentation and explanations during audits, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Financial Reporting and Accruals: Assist in the preparation of monthly accruals to accurately recognize expenses in the appropriate accounting periods. Contribute to the development of financial reports and analyses that support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and possess relevant experience:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as CPA or ACCA are advantageous but not mandatory.
• Professional Experience: A minimum of 2 to 4 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on accounts payable or a similar financial function. Prior exposure to ERP systems and accounting software is highly desirable.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are essential for identifying discrepancies and ensuring financial accuracy.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and auditors. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
