Your Role as a Robotics Engineer

As a Robotics Engineer at Yokogawa, you will be at the heart of transforming industries through cutting-edge robotic solutions. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects that bridge technology and sustainability, contributing to a smarter, more efficient future. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, develop, and deploy advanced robotic systems tailored to meet the evolving needs of our global clientele. Your expertise will be instrumental in integrating robotic platforms with Yokogawa’s systems, ensuring seamless operation and innovation in real-world applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Integration & Development: Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and implement state-of-the-art robotics solutions, leveraging OEM platforms through SDKs for optimal performance.
  • Third-Party Integration: Evaluate, integrate, and optimize third-party hardware and software systems to enhance Yokogawa’s robotic capabilities.
  • Innovation & Pilot Trials: Research emerging technologies to identify new use cases in robotics, develop pilot trial methodologies, and propose scalable solutions that deliver tangible value to customers.
  • Collaboration with OEMs: Work closely with leading robotics manufacturers to scope data integration, conduct site trials, troubleshoot challenges, and refine autonomous robotic platforms for industrial applications.
  • Technical Support & Feasibility Analysis: Provide expert guidance to field operators and stakeholders, conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of robotic implementations, and develop implementation plans that prioritize safety and efficiency.
  • Site Assessments & Risk Management: Perform on-site surveys, conduct field risk assessments, and design robust implementation strategies for robotic solutions in hazardous or complex environments.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay abreast of advancements in robotics and field inspection technologies, particularly in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), to ensure Yokogawa remains at the cutting edge of innovation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 3 years in robotics implementation, autonomous inspection systems, and integration of robotic platforms using OEM SDKs. Prior experience with pilot trials and project management in interdisciplinary teams is essential.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with Oil & Gas and/or Utilities sectors is highly desirable, given the specialized requirements of these industries.

Core Competencies

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong command of programming languages such as Python, C++, and MATLAB, along with expertise in robotics simulation tools (e.g., ROS, ROS 2) and SLAM algorithms.
  • AI & Data Integration: In-depth knowledge of AI developments, including training, data selection, and Python-based AI integration for robotic applications.
  • Robotic Systems Expertise: Hands-on experience with leading robotic platforms (e.g., ExRobotics, Boston Dynamics, ANYBotics, MHI, Taurob, Deep Robotics) and their sensor payloads, alongside a deep understanding of safety standards for hazardous environments.
  • Networking & Infrastructure: Familiarity with robot communication networks (4G, 5G) and infrastructure (on-premises/cloud) to ensure robust connectivity and data management.
  • Operating Systems & Tools: Proficiency in Linux systems and familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks for design and prototyping.
  • Industry 4.0 & IoT: A solid grasp of Industry 4.0 principles and IoT technologies to drive digital transformation in robotic systems.
