Your Role as an NCS Engineer
As an NCS (Network Control Systems) Engineer at Yokogawa, you will play a pivotal role in the execution of assigned projects, reporting directly to the Project Manager. Your responsibilities will span the entire project lifecycle, from initial engineering design to final commissioning, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance of industrial systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Documentation & Quality Assurance: Prepare, revise, and control project documentation, including quality checks and transmittals, in strict adherence to project standards, schedules, and quality plans.
- Engineering & Design Support: Perform basic and detailed engineering tasks, including application engineering design, to meet and exceed customer requirements. Collaborate closely with the LD (Local Design) team to support configuration and testing activities, including pre-FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), FAT, and IFAT (Installation and Functional Acceptance Testing).
- System Integration & Testing: Assist in the assembly, testing, and integration of complex industrial systems, ensuring all components function cohesively. Conduct on-site commissioning to validate system performance and reliability.
- Technical Coordination & Vendor Management: Liaise with cross-functional project teams to ensure alignment and efficient execution of project deliverables. Prepare and evaluate sub-vendor enquiries, conduct technical assessments, and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) variations to maintain project scope integrity.
- Scope & Resource Management: Monitor project scope deviations and optimize the utilization of engineering team man-hours to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education & Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering or Control Systems Engineering (B.E. or B.Tech.) is required.
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry, is essential to succeed in this role.
Technical Proficiency
- SCADA Systems: In-depth expertise in SCADA systems for Oil & Gas, Pipeline, and Utilities sectors.
- Telemetry & PLC Systems: Proficiency in programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining Telemetry and PLC systems.
- Industrial Protocols: Working knowledge of TCP/IP, Serial, Modbus, DNP3, HART, OPC 2.0, and Foundation Fieldbus protocols.
- Instrumentation & Sensors: Familiarity with various industrial instruments, including transmitters, control valves, temperature/pressure/flow measuring devices, positioners, UV/Heat/Gas/Flame sensors, isolators, barriers, multiplexers, and more.
- Communication Technologies: Experience with Fiber Optic, Wireless, GSM, GPRS, UHF, and CDMA communication systems is a plus.
- Software & Tools: Hands-on experience with PLC programming (IEC61131-3), Microsoft OS administration, Microsoft Office Suite, and Yokogawa’s Fast Tools (FT) and STARDOM/PLC systems is highly desirable.
