Position Overview: Information Technology Specialist (Healthcare IT Focus)
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Information Technology Specialist with a strong background in healthcare IT to join our dynamic team at Dar As Sihha Medical Center in Dammam. This role is designed for professionals who thrive in clinical environments and are passionate about leveraging technology to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. As an IT Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and optimizing the technology infrastructure that supports both clinical and administrative functions across the medical center.
Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless operation of critical healthcare systems, including Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS), which facilitate patient registration, clinical documentation, billing, and reporting. You will serve as the first line of support for technical issues, troubleshoot hardware and software challenges, and implement security measures to protect sensitive patient data in compliance with healthcare regulations. This position requires a proactive approach to system maintenance, user support, and continuous improvement to align technology with the evolving needs of a modern medical facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Healthcare Systems Support: Provide ongoing support and maintenance for EMR/HIS platforms, ensuring these systems operate efficiently to support patient care, administrative workflows, and reporting requirements.
- System Reliability & Uptime: Monitor and maintain the daily operation of clinical and administrative systems, minimizing downtime and ensuring high availability to support uninterrupted healthcare services.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and application issues promptly, with a focus on resolving problems in a fast-paced medical environment.
- Security & Compliance: Manage user accounts, access controls, and system security protocols to safeguard patient data and ensure compliance with healthcare data protection standards, including cybersecurity best practices.
- Infrastructure Management: Oversee IT infrastructure, including servers, endpoints, networks, and connectivity, to ensure robust and secure technology operations across all departments.
- Software Enhancements: Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for software improvements, system enhancements, and workflow optimization to increase operational efficiency and user satisfaction.
- User Support & Training: Deliver technical assistance to medical, nursing, and administrative staff, providing guidance on system usage and troubleshooting to enhance productivity and reduce workflow disruptions.
- Website Maintenance: Support the maintenance and updates of the medical center’s website, ensuring a reliable and professional online presence that aligns with the organization’s digital strategy.
- Vendor & External Coordination: Liaise with external vendors and support teams to manage system implementations, upgrades, and maintenance, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues.
- Documentation & Digital Initiatives: Maintain accurate IT documentation and contribute to digital transformation initiatives that drive continuous improvement in technology services.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Healthcare IT Experience: Proven experience working in a healthcare or medical center environment is mandatory. Hands-on experience supporting or working with EMR/HIS/healthcare information systems is required.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong IT background with expertise in systems, networks, and end-user support within clinical operations. Experience troubleshooting technical issues in live healthcare environments is essential.
- Clinical Workflow Knowledge: Familiarity with clinical workflows and patient data systems, enabling you to provide effective support tailored to the needs of medical professionals.
- Software & Workflow Optimization: Experience supporting software systems, implementing improvements, or optimizing workflows to enhance efficiency and user experience.
- Website Maintenance: Basic experience with website or web system maintenance to support the medical center’s digital presence.
- Cybersecurity Awareness: Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and healthcare data privacy best practices to protect sensitive information and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively support diverse user groups, including doctors, nurses, and administrative staff.
- Education & Certifications: A degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications in IT, healthcare IT, or cybersecurity are advantageous.
- On-Site Availability: Ability to work on-site in Dammam and provide timely support during operational hours, including potential after-hours assistance in emergency situations.
