Mechanical Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanical Technician to join our team at the wastewater treatment plant. In this critical role, you will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems to ensure seamless operations, minimize downtime, and uphold the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance. Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Technician will execute a wide range of maintenance activities to ensure the reliable operation of mechanical systems within the wastewater treatment plant. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Adhere to approved maintenance schedules to perform routine inspections, lubrication, and servicing of mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, valves, sludge handling systems, and piping systems.
• Equipment Inspection and Troubleshooting: Conduct thorough inspections to assess equipment reliability, identify potential issues, and diagnose mechanical failures. Implement corrective actions to restore equipment to optimal performance.
• Repair and Replacement: Perform disassembly, assembly, alignment, and installation of mechanical components. Replace defective parts and ensure proper functioning of aeration equipment, mixers, conveyors, rotating machinery, and other mechanical systems.
• Lubrication and Maintenance: Monitor lubricant levels and perform lubrication activities in accordance with manufacturer recommendations to extend the lifespan of equipment and prevent premature wear.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and repair details using the organization’s maintenance documentation system or Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Strictly adhere to HSE policies, procedures, and permit-to-work requirements to ensure a safe working environment and minimize environmental impact.
• Workplace Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area while ensuring the proper use of tools and equipment to enhance operational efficiency and safety.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Operations, Electrical, and Instrumentation teams to support continuous plant operations and address any interdepartmental maintenance needs.
• Emergency Response and Shutdowns: Participate in scheduled shutdowns, emergency maintenance, and plant commissioning activities as required to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
• Additional Duties: Fulfill any other tasks or responsibilities assigned by the direct supervisor to support the overall objectives of the facility.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must meet the following qualifications and possess relevant experience:

• Education: A Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related technical discipline is required.
• Experience: Prior experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants, water treatment facilities, or industrial environments is highly desirable.
