Lead Engineer- Field Services

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Engineer for Field Services to oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of medium voltage motors, generators, excitation systems, and variable speed drives. This role is critical to ensuring the operational reliability and performance of our clients' rotating equipment across various industrial sectors. The Lead Engineer will provide technical leadership, hands-on expertise, and exceptional customer service while adhering to GE’s stringent safety and quality standards. The position requires extensive travel, with approximately 80% of the time spent on-site at customer locations, often in remote or challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation and Commissioning: Lead the on-site installation, commissioning, refurbishment, startup, and upgrading of medium voltage synchronous and induction motors, generators, excitation systems, AVR systems, and variable speed drives. Ensure all installations meet technical specifications and safety standards.
• Preventive Maintenance and Repairs: Conduct routine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and emergency repairs to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance. Diagnose complex electrical and mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Technical Guidance and Training: Provide expert technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives, including training on installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance procedures. Ensure customers are fully equipped to manage their equipment post-service.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, including job status updates, customer reports, time sheets, and expense sheets. Maintain accurate records for future reference and compliance with industry standards.
• Team Leadership: Lead and mentor skilled labor teams performing field services, ensuring adherence to project timelines, safety protocols, and quality benchmarks. Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
• Safety and Compliance: Uphold a strong safety mindset, ensuring all field activities comply with GE’s safety standards and local regulatory requirements. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard personnel and equipment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred) from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on field service experience with medium voltage motors, generators, excitation systems, and commissioning of rotating equipment.
• Proven expertise in electrical testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical rotating machines and drive systems.
• Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 80% of the time) to customer sites, including international and remote locations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise technical documentation.
• Legal right to work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia without requiring company sponsorship or time restrictions.

• Valid driver’s license and willingness to operate company vehicles or rental cars for field assignments.
• Ability to work remotely, including in isolated or challenging environments, with limited resources.
• Strong customer service orientation with a focus on building long-term client relationships.
• Prior experience in project management, including planning, execution, and resource allocation.
• Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
• Familiarity with motors, generators, and related industrial equipment in field service environments.

Additional Information

This position does not include relocation assistance. The successful candidate will be expected to relocate independently or demonstrate the ability to commute to assigned locations as required by the role.
