Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Freight & Logistics Controller to join our dynamic team in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). This pivotal role is designed to drive financial excellence across our Freight and Logistics operations by ensuring robust revenue control, meticulous cost management, precise budgeting and forecasting, and comprehensive profitability analysis. The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted financial advisor to commercial and operational leadership, delivering data-driven insights that enhance decision-making, optimize margins, and foster sustainable business growth. Key Responsibilities

Revenue Recognition & Validation

  • Strategic Revenue Oversight: Lead the timely and accurate recognition of revenue across all Freight and Logistics operations, ensuring full compliance with corporate policies, accounting standards, and internal control frameworks.
  • Financial Integrity Assurance: Spearhead the review and validation of accruals, billing accuracy, and revenue assurance processes to proactively identify and mitigate potential revenue leakages.
  • Operational Collaboration: Partner closely with operational leadership to ensure the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of shipment data, revenue estimates, and financial reporting inputs.
  • Process Enhancement: Develop and continuously refine revenue control mechanisms to elevate financial accuracy, reduce commercial risks, and strengthen operational resilience.

Cost & Margin Controlling

  • Comprehensive Cost Analysis: Conduct in-depth cost and profitability analysis across all freight and logistics activities, including supplier invoices, outsourced services, agent expenses, and overhead allocations.
  • Margin Optimization: Monitor and challenge margin performance across products, customers, trade lanes, and service offerings, providing actionable recommendations to enhance profitability.
  • Initiative Leadership: Identify and drive margin enhancement initiatives through cost optimization, productivity improvements, pricing support, and commercial performance reviews.
  • Strategic Insights: Deliver strategic insights into cost drivers and profitability trends to empower informed business decisions and long-term planning.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting

  • Financial Planning Leadership: Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes for Freight and Logistics operations, ensuring alignment with corporate strategic objectives.
  • Performance Transparency: Develop and present monthly performance reports, financial dashboards, KPIs, and variance analysis to senior management and regional leadership teams.
  • Risk & Opportunity Management: Proactively identify financial risks, emerging business trends, and growth opportunities, providing strategic recommendations to support executive decision-making.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in forecasting accuracy, financial visibility, and performance management processes to enhance operational agility.

Business Partnering & Strategic Influence

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a trusted Finance Business Partner to Freight, Logistics, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Commercial leadership teams, fostering alignment between financial objectives and business growth initiatives.
  • Financial Leadership in Decision-Making: Provide expert financial leadership and analytical support for pricing strategies, customer tenders, network optimization initiatives, routing decisions, and supplier negotiations.
  • Data-Driven Influence: Influence commercial and operational decision-making through robust financial insights, profitability analysis, and strategic recommendations that drive sustainable value creation.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of financial objectives with operational execution and strategic vision.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Professional Development

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Logistics, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Professional certification such as CMA, ACCA, or CPA is considered a valuable asset.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in finance, with a strong preference for roles within freight, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in a controlling, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), or similar analytical role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in freight and logistics costing models, revenue recognition principles, and IFRS compliance.

Technical & Analytical Competencies

  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, cost allocation, route costing, and yield analysis.
  • Strong command of advanced Excel, ERP systems (such as SAP or CW), and Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
  • Exceptional analytical acumen with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.

  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
