GIS I&C supervisor

Position Overview

Hitachi Rail is seeking a highly skilled and experienced GIS I&C Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Dammam. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the installation, integration, and commissioning of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems within our rail infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, technical expertise, and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment. As a key member of our project delivery team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless integration of advanced technologies to enhance operational efficiency and safety across our rail networks.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Lead and supervise a team of engineers and technicians in the execution of GIS and I&C projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• System Integration: Oversee the integration of GIS and I&C systems with existing rail infrastructure, including signaling, communication, and control systems, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and expertise during the planning, design, installation, and commissioning phases of GIS and I&C systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
• Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes to verify the accuracy, functionality, and safety of installed systems, conducting regular inspections and audits as required.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders, to align project objectives with business goals and regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to GIS and I&C systems, providing timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operations.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including technical reports, progress updates, and compliance records, to support audits and future reference.
• Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure all project activities adhere to strict health, safety, and environmental policies, fostering a culture of safety and sustainability within the team.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or professional certifications in GIS, I&C, or rail systems are highly desirable.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in GIS, I&C, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Proven expertise in the installation, integration, and commissioning of GIS and I&C systems within rail or transportation infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as EN 50126, EN 50128, and EN 50129, as well as relevant safety and quality management systems.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff members.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to troubleshooting technical challenges.
• Proficiency in project management tools and software, such as MS Project, Primavera, or similar platforms.
• Fluency in English is required; additional proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
• Willingness to travel and relocate to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, as required by project demands.
