GIS I&C Engineer

Position Overview

Hitachi Rail is seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS I&C (Geographic Information Systems Instrumentation & Control) Engineer to join our dynamic team in Dammam. This role is pivotal in supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of advanced GIS solutions that enhance our rail infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in GIS technologies, instrumentation, and control systems, combined with a passion for innovation and operational excellence. As a key contributor to our projects, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet industry standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• GIS System Development & Maintenance: Design, develop, and maintain GIS databases and applications to support rail infrastructure management, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility.
• Instrumentation & Control Integration: Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate GIS data with instrumentation and control systems, enabling real-time monitoring and decision-making for rail operations.
• Data Analysis & Visualization: Utilize GIS tools and techniques to analyze spatial data, generate reports, and create interactive visualizations that support project planning and asset management.
• System Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency, reliability, and scalability of GIS solutions.
• Compliance & Standards: Ensure all GIS and I&C systems adhere to industry regulations, safety protocols, and company policies, maintaining compliance with local and international standards.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to align GIS solutions with project objectives and deliverables.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support for GIS-related issues, troubleshoot system errors, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and disruptions.

Qualifications & Skills

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics, Geospatial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in GIS, instrumentation, or control systems are advantageous.
• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, AutoCAD Map 3D) and instrumentation & control systems (e.g., SCADA, PLC). Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, SQL, or JavaScript is a plus.
• Industry Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in GIS, instrumentation, and control systems, preferably within the rail, transportation, or infrastructure sectors.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and develop innovative solutions to technical challenges.
• Communication & Teamwork: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team environment.
• Project Management: Experience in managing GIS projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
