Architectural Electrical Design Engineer

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

• System Design & Development: Create detailed electrical designs for architectural projects, including lighting systems, power distribution, fire alarm systems, and low-voltage systems, while adhering to local and international codes such as NEC, IEC, and NFPA.
• Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with architects, structural engineers, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) teams, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within the overall project scope.
• Technical Documentation: Prepare comprehensive electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or ETAP. Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with project requirements.
• Compliance & Safety: Conduct thorough reviews to ensure all electrical designs meet regulatory standards, safety protocols, and sustainability goals. Perform risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies where necessary.
• Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Assist in estimating material quantities, labor costs, and project timelines for electrical components. Provide recommendations to optimize resource allocation without compromising quality or safety.
• Project Support & Troubleshooting: Provide on-site and remote support during construction phases, addressing any electrical challenges that arise. Offer technical guidance to resolve issues efficiently and ensure project milestones are met.
• Innovation & Sustainability: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and sustainable practices in electrical design, such as energy-efficient lighting, smart building systems, and renewable energy integration. Propose innovative solutions to enhance project performance and reduce environmental impact.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., LEED, PMP) are advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in architectural electrical design, preferably within the construction or MEP consulting industry.
• Proficiency in electrical design software, including AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, Dialux, or similar tools. Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards, including NEC, IEC, NFPA 70, and local Saudi regulations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in English is required; Arabic language skills are a plus.
• Valid professional engineering (PE) license or eligibility for certification is preferred.
