Your Role: Orchestrating Excellence on Matchdays

As the Matchday Officer, you will be the driving force behind the flawless execution of all operational activities associated with home fixtures. Your responsibilities will encompass the meticulous planning, coordination, and oversight required to ensure that every matchday runs smoothly, safely, and in full compliance with league, federation, and club standards. From the moment the stadium doors open to the final post-match debrief, your leadership will be instrumental in creating an environment where players, officials, staff, media, and supporters can focus on what matters most—the game.

Key Responsibilities

• Matchday Operations:
  • Oversee the end-to-end operational readiness of the stadium, including pitch inspections, dressing room checks, media zones, and spectator areas, ensuring all facilities meet regulatory and quality standards.
  • Coordinate access control, crowd flow management, and emergency response protocols to guarantee a secure and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
  • Conduct thorough pre-match inspections to identify and address any potential issues before kick-off, ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
• Coordination & Communication:
  • Serve as the central liaison between internal departments, external stakeholders, and service providers to facilitate seamless collaboration and communication.
  • Engage with referees, match commissioners, visiting teams, and league officials to ensure alignment on protocols, timelines, and operational expectations.
  • Support media and broadcast operations by coordinating with the club’s media team to ensure optimal coverage and compliance with broadcasting standards.
• Safety & Security:
  • Assist in the implementation of the club’s matchday safety and security plan, including crowd management, emergency procedures, and incident reporting.
  • Monitor spectator behavior and operational risks in real-time, taking proactive measures to mitigate potential disruptions.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure adherence to all safety protocols and regulatory guidelines throughout the event.
• Staff & Volunteers Management:
  • Assist in the recruitment, briefing, and deployment of matchday staff and volunteers, ensuring each individual is fully prepared to execute their roles effectively.
  • Provide clear guidance on responsibilities and expectations, fostering a culture of accountability and professionalism among all personnel.
• Post-Match Duties:
  • Compile and submit post-match reports, including attendance figures, incidents, and operational feedback, to support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in debrief meetings to analyze matchday performance, identify areas for enhancement, and implement corrective actions for future fixtures.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will bring a blend of academic qualifications, practical experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional matchday experiences. We are seeking candidates who embody the following:

• Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Prior experience in matchday operations, stadium management, or large-scale event coordination is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with football competition regulations, matchday protocols, and safety standards is essential.

  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, volunteers, officials, and external partners.
