Role Overview

Reporting to the Local Service Operations Manager, the Senior System Engineer plays a pivotal role in delivering advanced automation solutions to industries such as hydrocarbons, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, power generation, and water. This position is instrumental in supporting ABB’s Energy Industries Division, which is committed to decarbonizing traditional sectors while accelerating the adoption of renewable energy models. By leveraging data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, the Senior System Engineer contributes to enhancing energy efficiency, process optimization, and risk reduction across the entire plant lifecycle—from initial project deployment to ongoing maintenance and upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Execution: Lead complex automation service activities, including installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, retrofits, repairs, and end-of-life support. Ensure all activities comply with ABB’s stringent standards, quality benchmarks, and safety protocols.
• Customer-Centric Support: Build and nurture strong client relationships by delivering exceptional service, understanding evolving customer needs, and identifying opportunities to expand ABB’s service portfolio. Drive customer satisfaction while fostering long-term business growth.
• Problem-Solving Leadership: Diagnose intricate system and equipment issues through systematic root-cause analysis. Recommend and implement corrective actions and preventive measures to enhance system reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
• Project and Documentation Management: Prepare and support engineering proposals, project estimates, risk assessments, and service documentation. Contribute to knowledge management initiatives and the continuous improvement of operational processes, products, and customer service delivery.
• Resource Coordination: Oversee the allocation and management of service resources, materials, parts, and equipment to ensure seamless project execution. Uphold the highest standards of health, safety, integrity, and cross-functional process compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in automation, Distributed Control Systems (DCS) services, and engineering hardware.
• Proven expertise in ABB System 800xA engineering, including system design, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, hardware configuration, and application development, with at least 7 years of hands-on experience.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing and mentoring automation engineering teams, with strong capabilities in solution design, technical problem-solving, and remote support delivery.
• Exceptional customer-facing communication skills and stakeholder management abilities to build trust and drive business growth.
