Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Mechanic, Heavy Duty Diesel, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive maintenance and repair tasks on a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered machinery, including but not limited to:

• Diagnostic and Repair Services: Conduct thorough inspections to identify mechanical issues, perform diagnostics using advanced tools, and execute timely repairs to minimize downtime and enhance equipment longevity.
• Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement structured preventive maintenance programs to proactively address potential failures, ensuring optimal performance and reducing the risk of unexpected breakdowns.
• Technical Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in compliance with company and industry standards to support audits and regulatory requirements.
• Equipment Upgrades and Modifications: Collaborate with engineering teams to recommend and implement upgrades or modifications that improve the efficiency, safety, and performance of diesel-powered machinery.
• Team Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance, training, and support to junior mechanics and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies to ensure a secure and compliant workplace. Promote a safety-first mindset among colleagues and actively participate in safety drills and initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education: A diploma or certification in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment technology, or a related field. Additional vocational training or apprenticeships in diesel engine systems are highly advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a mechanic specializing in heavy-duty diesel engines, with a proven track record in industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diagnostic equipment. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is preferred.
• Certifications: Valid certifications such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Medium/Heavy Truck Certification, Diesel Engine Specialist Certification, or equivalent credentials are desirable.
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical information clearly.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, and working in challenging environmental conditions such as extreme temperatures or confined spaces.
