Position Overview

As part of our integrated facility management solutions, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the operational excellence, reliability, and efficiency of our data center infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
The Data Center Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the ongoing monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of all mechanical and electrical systems critical to data center operations. Your core duties will include:
- System Monitoring and Maintenance: Perform daily monitoring of the Building Management System (BMS) to ensure seamless operation of all electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including transformers, generators, switchgears, UPS, PDUs, chillers, Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH), FCUs, chilled water pumps, and fuel systems. Execute and verify Work Orders (WOs) generated from the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to ensure timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Procedural Compliance: Develop and implement Methods of Procedures (MoPs) for all minor preventive maintenance activities in alignment with vendor and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines. Adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs) during all maintenance activities, including isolation, shutdown, start-up, and emergency shutdown procedures.
- Emergency Response and Redundancy Management: Conduct periodic testing of engine generators under various load conditions to validate performance and reliability. Manage rotating equipment to maintain operational redundancy and respond promptly to unplanned events or emergency scenarios to sustain uninterrupted data center operations. Escalate critical failures and alarms to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor and external vendors as required.
- Technical Oversight and Documentation: Perform daily walk rounds to inspect equipment and clear critical and minor alarms from both the equipment control panel and BMS workstation. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including Work Orders, and update procedures as necessary. Recommend enhancements to SOPs, EOPs, and MoPs through formal change requests to improve operational efficiency and safety.
- Inventory and Equipment Management: Oversee the calibration and condition of tools and equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards. Manage spare parts and consumables inventories, ensuring they are adequately stocked and up-to-date to minimize downtime during critical operations.
- Collaboration and Reporting: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including technicians, vendors, and facility managers, to execute maintenance tasks and implement operational improvements. Provide technical expertise and support for facility modifications, such as set point adjustments, redundancy rotations, and labeling, to enhance system performance and safety.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Additional certifications in data center operations, HVAC systems, or electrical engineering are highly desirable.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of mechanical and electrical systems commonly deployed in data centers, including transformers, generators, switchgears, UPS, PDUs, chillers, CRAHs, FCUs, chilled water pumps, and fuel systems. Familiarity with engineering design calculations, principles, codes, and standards for both mechanical and electrical disciplines is essential.
- Safety and Compliance: A strong commitment to Health & Safety guidelines, particularly when operating electrical or energized equipment. Experience in developing and implementing safety protocols to mitigate risks in high-voltage environments.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) for documentation, reporting, and data analysis. Experience with CMMS or BMS platforms is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in data center mechanical engineering, with a proven track record in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) equipment specifications, performance requirements, and site configurations. Hands-on experience with startup/shutdown procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and maintenance planning is required.
