Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Laboratory Registrar (Clinical Pathology) to join our esteemed healthcare team in Najran. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the administrative and operational functions of the clinical pathology laboratory, ensuring compliance with safety standards, maintaining high-quality diagnostic services, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Key Responsibilities

The Laboratory Registrar will play a critical role in the following areas:

  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Review and ensure the quality control of all laboratory procedures, adhering to established guidelines and safety protocols. Implement and monitor proficiency testing programs, taking corrective actions as necessary to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Equipment and Facility Maintenance: Oversee the daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Coordinate with vendors for timely procurement and delivery of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Test Review and Reporting: Review, sign, and provide detailed comments on laboratory tests, including recommendations for further investigations when required. Ensure timely reporting of high-risk results to relevant medical personnel for emergency interventions.
  • Inventory and Procurement Management: Conduct regular audits of laboratory inventory, prepare purchasing orders, and track deliveries to maintain adequate stock levels. Collaborate with administrative and medical staff to align supply needs with operational and budgetary requirements.
  • Budgeting and Reporting: Develop and manage unit budgets, accountability reports, and operating plans. Analyze cost efficiency and provide insights to support informed decision-making across inter-functional departments.
  • Safety and Health Standards: Ensure strict adherence to physical, chemical, and biological safety policies and procedures. Monitor and maintain optimal physical and environmental health conditions within the laboratory to safeguard staff and patients.
  • Training and Development: Design, implement, and oversee training programs and continuous medical education initiatives for all laboratory staff. Conduct annual performance evaluations to foster professional growth and accountability.
  • Conflict Resolution and Customer Service: Establish and maintain a robust mechanism for addressing complaints from staff, the public, or laboratory clients. Ensure resolution processes are transparent, fair, and aligned with organizational policies.
  • Specialty Tasks and Clinical Privileges: Perform additional tasks based on specialty-specific guidelines and clinical privileges, as defined by the Saudi Health Council and relevant authorities.

Work Environment and Schedule

The Laboratory Registrar will operate in a fully indoor setting, with a structured work schedule of six days per week and one designated day off. Working hours are eight net hours per day, aligned with the shift schedule approved by the Head of Department. This role requires a high level of professionalism, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from a recognized university. Additionally, a Master’s degree in a related specialty from an accredited institution or a Fellowship approved by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years of clinical experience following the completion of a Master’s degree or eligibility to sit for the board examination in the relevant specialty.
  • Licensure: Valid registration as a Registrar in the related specialty with the SCFHS.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in office software and health information systems to support administrative and clinical operations.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in both English and Arabic, with strong written and verbal communication skills.

The Laboratory Registrar will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to uphold the highest standards of clinical pathology, ensuring accurate diagnostics and patient-centered care.
