Site Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Engineer to join our dynamic team and oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of road, highway, and infrastructure construction projects. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in strict adherence to project specifications, quality standards, contractual obligations, and scheduled timelines. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and on-site personnel to deliver projects that meet or exceed expectations.

Key Responsibilities

The Site Engineer will play a central role in the successful delivery of construction projects by performing the following duties and responsibilities:

• Site Planning and Execution:
  • Develop and coordinate daily construction activities in alignment with project schedules and critical milestones.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work programs to ensure accurate and efficient project execution.
  • Allocate and manage labor, equipment, and material resources to optimize productivity and minimize delays.
  • Monitor construction progress and implement corrective measures to address any deviations from the planned schedule.
• Construction Supervision:
  • Oversee all construction activities, including earthworks, grading, embankment construction, subgrade preparation, pavement works, drainage systems, culvert installation, and road furniture setup.
  • Ensure that all construction activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, and established engineering standards.
  • Monitor productivity levels and construction quality to maintain high standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Resolve technical challenges on-site in coordination with the design and project teams to maintain project momentum.
• Site Coordination and Monitoring:
  • Collaborate with survey teams, quality inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate seamless project execution.
  • Track and document construction progress, preparing comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
  • Participate in site meetings and provide timely technical updates to project management and stakeholders.
• Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
  • Enforce compliance with project-specific HSE plans and the company’s stringent safety protocols.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and actively participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings to foster a culture of safety.
  • Identify potential hazards and lead the implementation of effective mitigation strategies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Promote and reinforce safety awareness among all site personnel and subcontractors to reduce risks and prevent incidents.
• Quality Assurance and Control:
  • Verify that all construction activities meet the required quality standards and project specifications.
  • Coordinate inspections, material approvals, and laboratory testing to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
  • Monitor and address quality non-conformities by implementing corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Support the preparation of inspection and test records to maintain comprehensive project documentation.
• Material and Equipment Management:
  • Oversee the receipt, storage, and utilization of construction materials to prevent damage, wastage, and delays.
  • Coordinate the mobilization and efficient use of equipment to support project schedules and operational needs.
• Subcontractor Coordination:
  • Supervise subcontractor activities and evaluate their performance against project requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure subcontractors adhere to quality, safety, and schedule targets to maintain project integrity.
  • Verify completed work quantities and progress achievements to validate deliverables and support payment certifications.
• Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records, including inspection reports, daily progress reports, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure that only approved and latest revisions of drawings and documents are utilized on-site to prevent errors and discrepancies.
  • Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings and contribute to project close-out documentation to ensure a smooth transition to the operational phase.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent recognized qualification.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in road, highway, or infrastructure construction projects.
  • Proven track record in site supervision and coordination of road construction activities.
  • In-depth knowledge of road construction methods, industry specifications, and quality standards.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and construction documentation.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, equipment utilization, and material management.
  • Familiarity with quality control processes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance.
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
