Key Responsibilities

As a Procurement Senior Professional at Hitachi Rail, your core responsibilities will include:

• Strategic Sourcing and Procurement: Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company objectives to secure cost-effective, high-quality materials, equipment, and services. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, ensuring they meet Hitachi Rail’s stringent quality, compliance, and sustainability standards.
• Contract Management: Lead the negotiation, drafting, and administration of contracts with suppliers and vendors. Ensure all agreements comply with legal, regulatory, and corporate policies while mitigating risks associated with procurement activities.
• Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers to foster long-term partnerships. Monitor supplier performance, address any issues proactively, and drive continuous improvement in service delivery and cost efficiency.
• Cost Optimization and Budget Control: Analyze procurement spend, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement initiatives to reduce expenditures without compromising quality. Work closely with finance and project teams to align procurement activities with budgetary constraints and project timelines.
• Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to internal policies, industry regulations, and international standards. Assess and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, geopolitical factors, and market volatility to safeguard Hitachi Rail’s operations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, project management, legal, and finance teams to streamline procurement processes and support the successful execution of rail projects. Provide expert guidance on procurement best practices and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CIPS, CSCP) is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role. Experience in the rail, transportation, or heavy industry sectors is highly desirable.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
• Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and drive consensus in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is a strong advantage.
