Key Responsibilities

The Welding Engineering Intern will be involved in a variety of tasks designed to enhance technical proficiency and industry knowledge. Your responsibilities will include:

• Welding Process Support: Assist in the evaluation and optimization of welding processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications. This includes analyzing welding parameters, monitoring weld quality, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
• Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder qualification records (WQR). Ensure all records are accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with international codes such as ASME, API, and ISO.
• Quality Assurance and Control: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to conduct inspections, perform non-destructive testing (NDT), and verify weld integrity. Participate in root cause analysis for any defects or deviations identified during the welding process.
• Research and Development: Support research initiatives aimed at improving welding techniques, materials, and technologies. This may involve conducting literature reviews, assisting in laboratory testing, or contributing to the development of new welding methodologies.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure seamless integration of welding engineering solutions into larger project frameworks. Participate in meetings, provide technical insights, and contribute to decision-making processes.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations to ensure a secure working environment. Promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance with TechnipFMC’s health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• A current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with welding codes and standards, such as ASME Section IX, API 1104, and ISO 3834.
• Basic understanding of welding processes, including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW, as well as non-destructive testing methods.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical data and make informed recommendations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with proficiency in both written and verbal English. Knowledge of Arabic is a plus but not required.
• Proficiency in using engineering software and tools, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or welding simulation software, is desirable.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of welding engineering.
