Role Overview
The Investment Development Associate plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the investment strategy by developing compelling investment theses, conducting rigorous commercial assessments, and formulating integration hypotheses. This position requires a strategic mindset, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to drive value creation. The role holder will operate within the framework of established business policies and procedures to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
The Investment Development Associate will be responsible for the following core functions:
- Investment Thesis Development: Lead and develop the core investment thesis for approved non-core investment concepts, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals. This includes conducting high-level commercial assessments and creating integration hypothesis plans to maximize potential value creation.
- Business Case Development: Take the lead in developing business cases for transactions such as Build, Joint Venture, and Spin-off initiatives. Collaborate closely with the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team to support the development of business cases for Acquisitions and Divestments.
- Partner Engagement: Lead engagement efforts with partners for all transaction types outside of M&A, including Build, Joint Venture, and Spin-off projects. Work in tandem with the M&A team to engage with targets and manage the Virtual Data Room (VDR) for M&A transactions.
- Deal Structuring and Value Creation: Develop optimal deal structures, identify potential value creation opportunities, and outline integration hypothesis plans to ensure seamless post-transaction operations.
- Document Preparation: Prepare and align critical legal documents, including Non-disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Letters of Intent (LOIs), and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), in collaboration with legal teams. Support the M&A team in preparing and submitting non-binding and binding offers, as well as Shareholder Agreements.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate with Business Units (BUs), Clusters, and Subsidiaries to ensure alignment on investment theses and strategic priorities.
- Senior Management Presentation: Present core investment theses to senior management and relevant committees to secure approvals and drive decision-making.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in business development, sales, or customer service roles, preferably within the technology or telecommunications industry.
- Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills are essential. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional negotiation, problem-solving, and relationship management abilities to foster productive collaborations across teams.
- Certifications: Additional certifications in finance, investment, or related fields are advantageous but not mandatory.
