Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Design Engineer specializing in Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors to join our dynamic team in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Key Responsibilities
- Design and Development: Lead the conceptualization, design, and engineering of power transformers and shunt reactors, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and longevity. Utilize advanced CAD and simulation tools to model and validate designs.
- Technical Specifications: Develop and refine technical specifications in alignment with client requirements, industry standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI, IEEE), and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate design considerations with manufacturing and operational constraints.
- Prototype Testing and Validation: Oversee the testing phases of prototypes, including dielectric strength, thermal performance, and mechanical integrity. Analyze test results to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, procurement teams, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of design deliverables within project timelines and budgetary constraints. Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Innovation and Optimization: Research and evaluate emerging technologies, materials, and methodologies to enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of transformer and reactor designs. Propose innovative solutions to address industry challenges.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of design processes, calculations, and compliance reports. Ensure all designs adhere to local and international regulatory frameworks, including safety and environmental standards.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert troubleshooting and technical support for existing products, addressing customer inquiries, and resolving design-related issues to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, you must possess a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving acumen, and industry knowledge. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or advanced certification in high-voltage engineering is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the design and development of power transformers and/or shunt reactors, with a proven track record in the energy sector. Experience in a consultancy, manufacturing, or utility environment is advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, ETAP) and simulation tools. Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory, thermal management, and insulation coordination.
- Certifications: Relevant professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or equivalent are preferred.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
