Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Planning: Develop and refine operational plans that align with Hitachi Rail’s long-term business objectives, focusing on scalability, cost efficiency, and innovation in manufacturing processes.
• Production Scheduling: Create and manage detailed production schedules that optimize workflow, minimize downtime, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality rail components and systems. Utilize advanced planning tools and methodologies to forecast demand and adjust schedules accordingly.
• Resource Management: Oversee the allocation of labor, materials, and machinery to maximize operational efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, logistics, and engineering, to ensure resources are utilized effectively and bottlenecks are mitigated.
• Performance Monitoring: Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance, including productivity, quality metrics, and safety compliance. Analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, and present actionable insights to senior management.
• Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in lean manufacturing initiatives, Six Sigma projects, and other continuous improvement programs to drive operational excellence. Foster a culture of innovation and efficiency within the factory environment.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all operational plans adhere to industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies. Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including production teams, supply chain partners, and senior leadership, to align operational strategies with business goals. Serve as a liaison between factory operations and other departments to facilitate smooth and efficient workflows.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess a strong background in operational planning, manufacturing, or a related field, along with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, Lean Six Sigma) is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in operational planning, production management, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the rail, automotive, or heavy industry sectors.
• Proven expertise in production scheduling, resource allocation, and performance monitoring, with a track record of driving efficiency and cost savings.
• Familiarity with advanced planning tools (e.g., ERP systems, MES software) and methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Theory of Constraints.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable strategies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data visualization tools is required.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and levels of the organization. A proactive and problem-solving mindset is essential.
