GIS I&C Engineer

Position Overview

Hitachi Rail is seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS I&C Engineer to join our dynamic team in Dammam. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) solutions for our rail infrastructure projects. Your expertise will contribute directly to the efficiency, safety, and reliability of our systems, ensuring seamless operations and adherence to industry standards. Key Responsibilities

• System Design & Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and optimize GIS and I&C systems tailored to rail infrastructure requirements. Ensure alignment with project specifications and regulatory compliance.
• Data Management & Integration: Oversee the collection, processing, and integration of geospatial data into GIS platforms. Implement robust data management strategies to maintain accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of critical information.
• Instrumentation & Control Systems: Develop and maintain I&C systems that monitor and control rail operations, including signaling, automation, and safety mechanisms. Conduct thorough testing and validation to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all GIS and I&C systems comply with local and international standards, including safety protocols and environmental regulations. Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures to safeguard operations.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Provide technical support for troubleshooting GIS and I&C system issues. Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and repairs to minimize downtime and enhance system longevity.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives. Present findings, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership and clients as required.
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in GIS and I&C. Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance system efficiency, scalability, and sustainability.

Qualifications & Skills

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in GIS, I&C, or rail systems are advantageous.
• Technical Proficiency: Profound knowledge of GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and I&C systems. Experience with SCADA, PLC, and automation tools is highly desirable. Familiarity with rail-specific technologies and standards is a plus.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex data, identify trends, and resolve technical challenges efficiently. Attention to detail is essential for ensuring system accuracy and reliability.
• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Project Management: Experience in managing GIS and I&C projects from inception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Proficiency in project management tools is beneficial.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of industry regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements relevant to rail infrastructure and geospatial technologies.
