GIS I&C Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS I&C (Geographic Information Systems Instrumentation & Control) Engineer to join our dynamic team in Dammam. This role is pivotal in supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of advanced GIS solutions integrated with instrumentation and control systems. Key Responsibilities

• System Development & Integration: Design, develop, and implement GIS-based instrumentation and control systems to enhance operational efficiency and data accuracy. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate GIS solutions with existing industrial control systems (ICS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) platforms.
• Data Management & Analysis: Oversee the collection, processing, and analysis of spatial and non-spatial data to support decision-making processes. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Automation & Optimization: Develop and deploy automated workflows to streamline GIS operations, reduce manual intervention, and improve system performance. Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement best practices to enhance productivity.
• Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide expert technical support to resolve complex issues related to GIS I&C systems. Diagnose system malfunctions, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align GIS I&C solutions with business objectives. Participate in technical reviews, design discussions, and strategic planning sessions to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all GIS I&C systems and processes adhere to relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines. Maintain comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, operational procedures, and compliance reports.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Geomatics, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in GIS, automation, or control systems are highly desirable.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS), SCADA systems, PLC programming, and industrial automation tools. Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., SQL, Oracle) and programming languages (e.g., Python, C++) is essential.
• Industry Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in GIS I&C engineering, preferably within the oil & gas, utilities, or energy sectors. Experience with real-time data processing and industrial control system integration is a significant advantage.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable insights. Proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges in high-pressure environments.
• Communication & Teamwork: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
• Certifications: Professional certifications such as GIS Professional (GISP), Certified Automation Professional (CAP), or equivalent are a plus.
