Position Overview
Amazon, the leading e-commerce platform in the Arab world, is seeking a dedicated Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Specialist to oversee and enhance safety standards across our dynamic delivery station operations. Key Responsibilities
As a WHS Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining robust health and safety protocols to safeguard employees and optimize productivity within the delivery station. Your role will encompass a broad range of duties, including:
- Health and Safety Leadership: Supervising employee well-being, satisfaction, and productivity while fostering a culture of safety and accountability across all shifts and departments.
- Collaborative Project Management: Partnering with cross-functional teams across multiple operational sites to develop and execute health and safety initiatives that align with Amazon’s global standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Guidance and Compliance: Providing expert advice on health and safety matters to stakeholders, ensuring adherence to OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910), and implementing Amazon’s global safety policies with precision.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conducting thorough reviews and audits of existing health and safety arrangements, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending modifications to machinery, processes, or workflows to minimize risks.
- Documentation and Training: Developing comprehensive health and safety documentation, including procedures, tools, and training materials in both English and Arabic to ensure accessibility for all employees.
- Reporting and Analytics: Establishing and maintaining robust reporting systems to track health and safety statistics, providing management with actionable insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Change Management: Supporting business transformation initiatives by implementing effective change management processes and fostering a behavioral culture shift within a large, complex, and multi-shift operational environment.
- Contractor Safety Oversight: Ensuring that contractor management safety processes are fully implemented and adhered to, maintaining alignment with Amazon’s safety protocols.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you will bring a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in workplace health and safety, coupled with a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and local legislative requirements. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Environmental Science.
- Certifications: NEBOSH or IOSH certification, with a preference for candidates holding the Kawader Level 2 certification.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word in a professional setting, along with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security or personnel issues.
- Language Skills: Fluency in both English and Arabic to effectively communicate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Preferred Experience: Prior involvement in emergency response planning and worker’s compensation case management is advantageous but not mandatory.
