About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Change Incident Management Specialist to oversee and govern the end-to-end Change Management process within our organization. This critical role ensures that all changes—whether standard, normal, or emergency—are meticulously assessed, approved, implemented, and reviewed in a controlled and compliant manner. The Change Incident Management Specialist plays a pivotal role in minimizing business risks, maintaining service stability, and enhancing the success rate of changes while adhering to ITIL best practices. By collaborating closely with Incident and Problem Management teams, this position drives continuous improvement to reduce change-related incidents and strengthen overall IT service reliability.
Key Responsibilities
The Change Incident Management Specialist will be responsible for the following core functions:
- Change Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete lifecycle of Standard, Normal, and Emergency Changes, ensuring each phase is executed with precision and adherence to established protocols.
- RFC Review and Validation: Evaluate Requests for Change (RFCs) by conducting thorough risk assessments, reviewing implementation plans, verifying testing evidence, and confirming robust rollback procedures are in place.
- CAB and eCAB Leadership: Chair Change Advisory Board (CAB) and Emergency Change Advisory Board (eCAB) meetings to facilitate informed decision-making and ensure changes are approved based on comprehensive evaluations.
- Change Scheduling and Coordination: Maintain the Forward Schedule of Changes (FSC) and coordinate change windows to align with business operations and minimize disruptions.
- Risk and Impact Assessment: Analyze change risks, business impact, dependencies, and deployment readiness to mitigate potential issues before implementation.
- Post-Implementation Reviews (PIRs): Conduct detailed reviews for failed or backed-out changes to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work in tandem with Incident and Problem Management teams to identify trends, reduce change-related incidents, and enhance overall service stability.
- Emergency Change Governance: Provide oversight and ensure compliance for Emergency Changes, including proper review and post-implementation validation.
- Performance Tracking and Reporting: Monitor and report key Change Management metrics, such as change success rates, failed changes, emergency changes, and change-induced incidents, to drive data-driven improvements.
- Process Improvement Initiatives: Lead continual improvement efforts to elevate Change Management maturity and enhance the effectiveness of the process across the organization.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 4 to 10 years of experience in IT Service Management, with at least 4 years dedicated to Change Management. Prior exposure to Incident Management, Problem Management, and Major Incident processes is essential.
- Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with enterprise ITSM platforms such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Remedy, or BMC Helix is required.
- Leadership and Governance: Proven experience managing CAB meetings, conducting risk assessments, and enforcing change governance within large-scale enterprise environments.
Certifications and Skills
The ideal candidate will possess the following certifications and competencies:
- Certifications: ITIL v3 Foundation or ITIL 4 Foundation (mandatory). ITIL Managing Professional or Service Transition certification is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in ITIL Change Management, Incident & Problem Management, risk assessment, and governance frameworks.
- Tool Proficiency: Proficiency in ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM tools, with the ability to leverage these platforms for change tracking, reporting, and automation.
- Analytical and Reporting Skills: Strong capability to track and analyze Change Management KPIs, generate insightful reports, and present findings to stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication and coordination skills to engage with technical teams, business units, and senior leadership effectively.
