In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of electrical substations, contributing to the seamless operation of power distribution networks. Key Responsibilities

• Equipment Installation and Commissioning: Oversee the installation, configuration, and commissioning of high-voltage and medium-voltage substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and protective relays. Ensure all installations comply with technical specifications and safety protocols.
• Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on substation components to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan. Diagnose faults and implement solutions to restore optimal functionality.
• Testing and Commissioning: Perform rigorous testing on substation equipment, including insulation resistance tests, relay coordination studies, and protection system evaluations. Validate system performance to ensure compliance with regulatory and operational requirements.
• Safety and Compliance: Uphold stringent safety standards in all operations, including adherence to electrical safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and emergency response procedures. Ensure compliance with local and international regulations, such as IEC, ANSI, and NEMA standards.
• Technical Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repair logs. Prepare detailed reports for management, highlighting key findings, recommendations, and compliance status.
• Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Identify and resolve complex technical issues within substation systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions. Provide expert guidance to junior technicians and engineers on troubleshooting methodologies.
• Project Management: Participate in substation upgrade or expansion projects, coordinating with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective execution. Contribute to risk assessments and contingency planning for critical infrastructure projects.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field. A diploma in electrical technology with relevant experience may also be considered.
• Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Electrical Inspector (CEI), Certified Protection Relay Engineer (CPRE), or equivalent credentials are highly desirable. Valid electrical work permits or licenses are required.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in substation operations, maintenance, or engineering, with a proven track record in high-voltage systems. Experience with SCADA systems, PLCs, and substation automation is a plus.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of substation equipment, including transformers, breakers, relays, and control systems. Familiarity with industry software tools such as ETAP, AutoCAD, or DNP3 is advantageous.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills to liaise with team members, contractors, and management. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in high-pressure environments.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Arabic is a valuable asset.
