Key Responsibilities

As an UBD Specialist at Halliburton, your core responsibilities will include:

• Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance and technical oversight in the planning, execution, and evaluation of underbalanced drilling operations. This includes assessing well conditions, selecting appropriate UBD techniques, and ensuring adherence to industry best practices and company standards.
• Operational Execution: Oversee the implementation of UBD projects, including the selection and configuration of equipment, monitoring of real-time parameters, and troubleshooting of operational challenges. Your role will be instrumental in maintaining operational integrity while maximizing drilling performance.
• Safety and Compliance: Champion a culture of safety by ensuring all UBD activities comply with Halliburton’s rigorous safety protocols, local regulations, and international standards. Conduct risk assessments, implement mitigation strategies, and foster a proactive safety mindset among team members.
• Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, geologists, and other stakeholders to align UBD strategies with project objectives. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively will be essential in driving collaborative decision-making.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay at the forefront of industry advancements in UBD technology and methodologies. Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and performance enhancement, and implement innovative solutions to drive operational excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in drilling engineering or underbalanced drilling are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of hands-on experience in underbalanced drilling operations, with a proven track record in designing, executing, and optimizing UBD projects. Prior experience in the Middle East, particularly in Saudi Arabia, is preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of UBD equipment, including rotating control devices, snubbing units, and multiphase pumping systems. Familiarity with industry software for well planning, real-time monitoring, and data analysis is required.
• Certifications: Valid certifications in IWCF (International Well Control Forum) or IADC (International Association of Drilling Contractors) are mandatory. Additional certifications in HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) are a plus.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong leadership qualities, and the capacity to thrive in high-pressure environments. Proficiency in English is essential, and Arabic language skills are advantageous.
