Project Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our dynamic team in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in the successful execution of oil and gas surface infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, quality standards, and operational requirements. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), working with surface production equipment, and overseeing fabrication and installation processes. This position demands strong collaboration with clients, engineering teams, quality groups, wellsite personnel, and vendors to deliver projects that meet industry benchmarks and organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Engineer will be responsible for leading and supporting projects involving the development, fabrication, and installation of surface infrastructure for oil and gas applications. Your core duties will include:

• Project Execution and Leadership: Oversee the entire lifecycle of surface infrastructure projects, from initial development through fabrication, installation, and commissioning, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Technical Analysis and Interpretation: Read, interpret, and analyze P&IDs, engineering drawings, and specifications to facilitate proper equipment selection, system integration, and compliance with industry standards such as API, ASME, and ISO.
• Wellsite Assessments and Coordination: Conduct comprehensive wellsite surveys prior to project execution to evaluate site conditions, verify infrastructure readiness, and identify potential challenges. Collaborate with clients, vendors, and field personnel to ensure seamless installation and operational efficiency of equipment.
• Vendor and Fabricator Management: Work closely with external partners, including vendors, fabricators, and installation teams, to ensure strict adherence to project requirements, industry regulations, and safety protocols.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with multidisciplinary teams, including design engineers, procurement specialists, and field service teams, to streamline project workflows, mitigate risks, and optimize resource allocation.
• Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all equipment and systems comply with local regulations, international standards, and ARAMCO requirements. Conduct risk assessments, maintain detailed project records, and prepare technical reports for stakeholders.
• Cost Control and Budget Management: Develop and monitor cost estimates, identify cost-saving opportunities, and control expenditures to maximize project profitability while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of project progress, non-conformances, and non-production time. Report findings to management and stakeholders, and capture lessons learned to enhance future operations.
• Technical Feedback and Innovation: Provide constructive feedback to the internal engineering team to improve the safety, performance, and reliability of technologies. Recommend enhancements to existing processes or equipment based on field observations.

Qualifications and Competencies

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering is required.
• Experience: Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in onshore/offshore completion, production, or workover operations within the oil and gas industry.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and engineering documentation. Experience with the design, selection, and integration of surface production equipment is essential.
• Fabrication and Installation Knowledge: Familiarity with fabrication processes, welding techniques, material selection, and testing procedures to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Stakeholder Management: Proven experience in interacting with clients, third-party vendors, and cross-functional teams to align project objectives and resolve challenges.
• Certifications: PMP certification or relevant industry credentials are highly desirable.
• Project Management: At least two years of experience in project management or coordination, demonstrating the ability to lead initiatives from inception to completion.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication abilities to convey technical information clearly and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
• Additional Advantages: Experience with intelligent completion systems and system integration is a plus.
