Parsons is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Lead Engineer to join our dynamic team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will provide technical leadership and oversee the design, development, and implementation of mechanical engineering solutions for complex infrastructure and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering, exceptional project management capabilities, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality engineering deliverables in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

The Mechanical Lead Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and designers to ensure the successful execution of mechanical engineering projects. Your core duties will include:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. Lead the development of mechanical engineering designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of mechanical engineering projects from inception to completion. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including civil, electrical, and structural engineers, to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into broader project frameworks. Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery.
  • Design and Development: Lead the creation of detailed mechanical designs, including HVAC systems, piping, equipment layouts, and structural components. Utilize advanced engineering software and tools to perform simulations, analyses, and optimizations to enhance system performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance: Ensure all mechanical engineering deliverables adhere to international codes, such as ASHRAE, API, and ISO standards, as well as local regulatory requirements. Conduct rigorous reviews and audits to validate design accuracy, safety, and functionality. Prepare and present technical reports, drawings, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary technical liaison between Parsons and clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities. Facilitate clear and concise communication to align project objectives, address concerns, and ensure client satisfaction. Participate in client meetings, presentations, and workshops to showcase engineering expertise and drive project success.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage project budgets, allocating resources efficiently to maximize productivity and minimize waste. Monitor expenditures, track resource utilization, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and possess the following skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PE) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Experience in infrastructure, industrial, or energy sectors is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit), and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB). Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodologies is a plus.
  • Leadership and Communication: Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, foster collaboration, and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of international and local mechanical engineering codes and standards, including ASHRAE, API, ISO, and Saudi Aramco standards.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is advantageous.
  • Safety and Compliance: Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and ethical conduct in all engineering practices.
