Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer plays a pivotal role in overseeing mechanical works across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects. This position ensures that all mechanical systems are implemented in full compliance with approved designs, specifications, and industry standards. The role encompasses reviewing mechanical design and shop drawings, monitoring on-site execution, and conducting rigorous quality control to guarantee the functionality, safety, and performance of mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Documentation Review: Evaluate mechanical design drawings, shop drawings, and material submittals, providing constructive feedback to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Site Supervision: Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of critical mechanical systems, including pumping stations, utilities, HVAC systems, and pipeline networks.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor site execution to ensure adherence to approved construction sequences, safety protocols, and project specifications. Conduct inspections and witness pressure tests to verify compliance.
- Technical Coordination: Review technical correspondences, Requests for Information (RFIs), and contractor submissions, providing timely and professional input to resolve queries and challenges.
- Problem Resolution: Identify and address technical challenges through effective coordination with design and construction teams, ensuring seamless project progression.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure all mechanical works meet the required standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, adhering to relevant industry codes such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, and ASTM.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant professional experience.
- Technical Proficiency: Proven experience in reviewing mechanical designs and shop drawings, with a strong background in roads, bridges, and tunnels projects.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of mechanical systems, utilities, and applicable standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ASTM, etc.).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and demonstrated leadership in driving project success.
