Chief Accountant

Position Overview

UrbaCon Contracting & Trading Company, a leading organization based in Saudi Arabia, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all accounting operations, ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations, and contribute to the strategic financial planning of the organization. Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting and Compliance: Prepare and present accurate, timely, and compliant financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports, in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop, monitor, and manage the company’s annual budget, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Collaborate with senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
• Internal Controls and Audit Support: Establish and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records. Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies to facilitate smooth audit processes and address any findings or inquiries promptly.
• Tax Planning and Compliance: Oversee tax planning initiatives to minimize liabilities while ensuring full compliance with Saudi tax laws and regulations. Prepare and file tax returns, including VAT, Zakat, and other applicable taxes, in a timely and accurate manner.
• Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Encourage professional development through training and performance evaluations to enhance team capabilities.
• Strategic Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities. Provide actionable insights to support data-driven decision-making across the organization, particularly in areas such as project costing, investment appraisal, and financial risk management.
• Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for financial matters with internal stakeholders, including senior management, department heads, and board members. Present financial performance and strategic recommendations in clear, concise, and compelling formats tailored to the audience.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role within the construction, contracting, or trading sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS, Saudi GAAP, and local tax regulations, including VAT, Zakat, and income tax.
• Proven expertise in financial software (e.g., ERP systems) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
• Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all financial dealings.
• Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal, is essential.
